For young companies, the world of watch luxury appears to be an unattainable height. Most of the people consider the industry of expensive watches and fine watchmaking something really very expensive and utopical, however, “Wrist Works Company” is not among those.
Quentin Trudeau who is co-founder and public relations in Wrist Works Company worked for almost five years in sales and marketing departments of such watch brands as Breguet, Blancpain, Longines and Ulysse Nardin. A lot of beautiful, highly reliable and admirable watches passed through his hands and the only thing that saddened him was its price. So, he came up with this idea of creating one on his own, based on his experience. He approached his friend and partner, Vikentiy Gryaznov, a talented and renowned designer who worked for several Swiss watch companies and well known for his assistance in the masterpiece Lunokhod watch project of famous Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin. He agreed to join him happily.
They studied the history of luxury timepieces in addition to watch industry as a whole. As they were exceptionally fond of vintage watches, so this turned out to be their destination in design concept for the first series of Plan B – Edmonton series.
This series includes everything that warms hearts of watch enthusiasts all over the world, trusted design features, traditional outlook with every element seems natural and hand made. It took them about two years to create a perfect prototype.
The designer, Vikentiy Gryaznov, made three models for the first Plan B series – Edmonton, while appreciating quality in every detail and basic ideas of European watch design of the middle of XX century.
Three basic ideas were their goal in order to develop a timepiece which are vintage design, functionality and universality. These are the fundamentals of their concept that combines the best designer features of the most attractive luxury timepieces, has the same accuracy and reliability as its bourgeois brethren, however with reasonable price that is affordable for everyone.
In order to make this watch an integral and stylish companion to your wrists for any event, there is another formal stainless steel strap included in the original package. Besides, a special tool is also offered in this package that lets you change straps in only a couple of seconds. Hence, Plan B provides you an opportunity to have a universal timepiece suitable for every situation in just one box.
The greatest achievement in the creation of Plan B is that they have managed to bring life into the watch with small and interesting details. Many kinds of steel were used in order to bring the diversity in textures and feeling. The case has matte coating, while crown, buttons and strap parts are made of polished steel. Watch hands have brushed surface along with outer rings of sunray concentric sub-dials. The dial has applied volume index marks covered with luminous paint and consists of three independent layers, each with its own time unit to show.
The most incredible feature is a domed mineral glass which lets to read the dial most spectacular way and supports overall vintage outlook. Date window has a magnifying lens on itself.
Inspired from French watchmaking of mid 1950s, Plan B has an aerodynamic rounded shape and is manufactured from high grade composite stainless steel. Topped with domed panoramic glass, it allows you to enjoy Edmonton series vintage design in its full beauty.
Plan B watches house accurate Swiss made Ronda quartz movement with two chronographs, four jewels and gold coating. In addition to this, the battery life is 54 months which is remarkable.
As this projects implies frequent strap change, therefore, a lasting and durable decision for the straps was required. This is the reason that they chose dyed canvas and leather for basic strap and Milanese mesh steel for secondary one. These kinds of straps can easily last for ages even if you are going to change them on your Plan B every day.
