Do you need time to yourself? No disturbances, perhaps some peace and quiet….time to cleanse your soul. If you were to design the perfect spot for relaxation, how would you like it to look? Well, the Ecumenical Chapel is a meditation chapel in Mexico that has been designed as a place to retreat to for those looking for alone time and silence.
This chapel was designed by BNKR Arquitectura and allows people to go on a journey to discover themselves in surroundings that are beautiful. Sunken into the ground this round chapel is both discreet while being absolutely spectacular. To access the chapel you would have to walk down a circular ramp that flows into the ground. It is open to the outdoors but protected from nature’s elements by glass bars. It also has a pond of water flowing over the top. Now, how serene is that.
Since it is located at the end of the lawn and slightly below ground level it allows one to meditate peacefully. The pathway is lined with flowers. From afar only the chapel’s reflecting roof can be seen. The opaque glass panels that make up the walls of the chapel allow air and light to pour through the chapel and at the same time allows those who are meditating to get a vague glimpse at the outside world so they can lose themselves in a spiritual way. On the inside there is a huge piece of quartz and the oculus of the chapel reflects off it.
The design of the chapel comes from a church the owners had seen which was close to their weekend home. People who know and appreciate architecture will love this place. With this modern design the owners sure have created their own haven of tranquility. We can only hope that we all find a place of refuge to reflect and attain our inner peace, our paradise of harmony.
