Alfred Nobel was a Swedish industrialist, inventor and armaments manufacturer. He created five Nobel Prizes; Peace, Physics, Chemistry, Literature and Physiology/Medicine. This year, from a list of 278 nominees who were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize two have been selected to receive it. The announcement was made today in Oslo by the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Thorbjørn Jagland.

This year list of 278 nominees is reportedly the largest number of nominees ever. The list had 47 organizations in it as per the Nobel committee. The previous record for highest number of nominees came last year with a figure of 259. Who two have won the Nobel Peace prize? Malala Yousafzay is a Pakistani child education activist while Kailash Satyarthi is an Indian child rights activist. Malala is the youngest person ever to have received the Nobel Peace Prize with an age of 17 years. She has been working to promote rights for females despite being shot in the head back in 2012 by Taliban in Pakistan.
