Bugatti Designs New Car For Vision Gran Turismo GT
Bugatti Veyron can safely be called the queen of cars. With its immaculate high level performance that breaks all records, one can ignore the slightly drowsy looks it offers. But even that was set to change as Bugatti had been working on a concept car for the video game Vision Gran Turismo. It was believed that the quite similar looks that Bugatti has followed since a decade would be changed.
Many believed and hoped that Bugatti’s Vision Gran Turismo hypercar would not follow the same lines as its predecessors and be a little more adventurous in terms of design and styling. I mean who doesn’t want to see some flashy and edgy out-of-the-future looking concept cars with insane, yet beautiful, designs? We are sure everyone does.
But all these hopes were somehow played down by Bugatti themselves when they announced that the Vision Gran Turismo car will have to look “unmistakably like a Bugatti” and portray the brand values of “Art, Forme, Technique” in its design. With the successor to Bugatti Veyron set to be launched next year, this seemed to be a perfect opportunity to experiment with the designs for a video game, but Bugatti decided against it.
However, they did change a few things. Alright it looks like a Veyron, yes. But there are some changes to it as well. Take the mad rear custom spoiler that runs at the roof level almost throughout the rear of the car. This rear wing is inspired by the 1936 Type 57 Atlantic and simply looks brilliant. So do those custom race tires. While Bugatti has kept the design more realistic and plausible, they have still managed to make the car look good.
Another change is the front hood that takes a more triangular shape which is more aerodynamic and favors racing. The front grills is held up by a massive front splitter that looks cool. The headlights are eight-eyed and the air vents in the front look like two massive black holes gusting in air. The shades of blue color seen in this car are a tribute to the Le Mans-winning Type 57 G Tank from the late 1930s.
The details of the engine used in this car have been kept a secret for some reason. But we have no reason to believe that a company that makes a 1200bhp W16 engine for its road legal car would ever compromise on its engine performance, even for a game. A quad turbo 8 liter engine is expected to be under the hood of this magnificent beast of a car. The designers are really hopeful that the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo will be a hit amongst the fans. Most probably, the answers to all questions regarding the engines will be answered at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where the Bugatti Vision GT show car will make a world premiere.
The styling does resemble the supposed leaked photos of the new Bugatti set to be unveiled next year, specially the front grills and the hood. The rear end also looks similar minus the gigantic spoiler but we will have to wait and see that how much this car resembles the rumored Bugatti Chiron, which will make its first appearance in public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.
As mentioned earlier, the Bugatti Vision GT show car will make its first appearance in Frankfurt later this year. We, for one, can’t wait to have all our questions about this car answered. Until then, let’s just look and marvel at this amazing beauty.
