After the Barebones Android PC and the subtle CoolShip Android PC, which looks like just a keyboard in appearance, The Jide Remix Mini Android PC is destined to stand out. With its small and stylish design and the affordable starting price as seen during the crowdfunding campaign.
The Android mini PC is promised in two versions. The lower end one featuring 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of Internal Storage and the higher end one is to hold 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of Internal Storage.
Apart from these, the rest of the specifications are to be the same on both models. Both of these Mini PCs will house a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 64-bit processor, two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port and an Ethernet port. Along there will also be a microSD card slot for extendable memory. The Mini PC will use 802.11g/b/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity.
The Remix OS (The Custom UI provided by the company) will make this device running Android Lollipop worth a look. The PC will be able to run mobile apps available for the platform, but it won’t be GMS certified, hence there will be no Google Play Store or other Google Apps on the PC. The device will however feature a taskbar, window-based multitasking and support for mouse and keyboard, just like the good old Desktop Computers.
The dimensions of this Mini PC are 1-inch deep, 4.9 inches long, and 3.5 inches wide (2.54 cm x 12.45 cm x 8.89 cm), which enable easy handling and a user can add it to their workspace without requiring much space.
The company behind Remix Mini is gathering funds on KickStarter. The firm previously linked with the Android-running Surface-esque Jide Remix, is now seeking $50,000 for the funding of Remix Mini. And due to their brilliant pricing and idea, they have already received 10 times their goal with 36 days still left.
The backers that are interested in pre-ordering the mini PC can do so for a minimum pledge of $30 for the 1GB model and $40 for the 2 GB model. The shipping is to take place by October 2015. They are also providing bundle deals, if interested one can check out their KickStarter page.
