The paradigm is shifting and the aim of technology and science is shifting towards slowing down climate change and saving the environment. The slogan of ‘go green’ is the new trend while trying to monitor the pollution and minimize it. Meet Monica Abarca, she is 23 years old and a Peruvian engineer – and a specialist in Mechatronics. She has invented a drone that features algorithms and sensors that enable it to ascertain air pollution and thus helps with studying it and fighting it.Green Gadget – This Drone By A Young Engineer Can Detect Air Pollution Monica Abarca (2)

The gadget has a plethora of applications. It can be used by the mining-metallurgical sector as an alternative to the fixed contamination measurement stations. Using this drone allows for coverage of a larger area and enhanced efficiency when it comes to detecting air pollution and determining if it is harmful for people who are in vicinity of mines.Green Gadget – This Drone By A Young Engineer Can Detect Air Pollution Monica Abarca (1)

The drone is capable of flying to a height of 500 meters above sea level and offers a flight time of 10 minutes. It doesn’t feature a camera, however, the second version of the drone that is being developed shall sport a camera. This improved version will be able to fly for a total of 30 minutes and shall be able to fly even higher.Green Gadget – This Drone By A Young Engineer Can Detect Air Pollution Monica Abarca (3) Green Gadget – This Drone By A Young Engineer Can Detect Air Pollution Monica Abarca (4)

As of right now, Monica is trying to come up with means of identifying the impact of pollution that is being caused by mining – one of the big problems that is affecting a number of countries.
