Grammy Awards 2016 – What To Expect This Year!
The recording industry’s most prestigious award, the Grammy, is presented annually by The Recording Academy. A Grammy is awarded by The Recording Academy’s voting membership to honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences. It’s an honor award by and to artists and technical professionals for artistic and technical achievement. The annual Grammy Awards presentation brings together thousands of creative and technical professionals in the recording industry from all over the world and now, music’s biggest night is here once again. The 58th Grammy Awards will take place on Monday, February 15, 2016 starting at 2 p.m. Central, 3 p.m. Eastern, noon Pacific.
This year’s Grammy Awards will be hosted by LL Cool J at the Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Actor-comedian Jay Mohr, will host the pre-telecast ceremony. The Grammy’s is an award show that cannot be missed. Taylor Swift will open the show with a track from her album “1989’. She is nominated in seven categories. Kendrick Lamar, who received the most nominations with 11, will be going head to head with Swift in major categories, including album of the year.
Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber are among the legion of artists to set to perform, but honestly speaking, the night truly belongs to the ladies….Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and Tori Kelly and scheduled to appear. Speaking of pop-divas, 10-time Grammy winner, Adele will perform a track off her recording breaking album 25, which crossed 8 million copies sold in the USA.
Lady Gaga will perform a Grammy’s medley honoring David Bowie, who died early this year. Bowie isn’t the only music legend lost this year….Natalie Cole, Stone Temple Pilot’s Scott Weiland, Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, the Eagles’ Glenn Frey, and Earth Wind and Fire’s Maurice White will also be remembered. Lionel Richie will be honored as the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year.
It has been an interesting year in the year of music and the Grammy’s are making the most of it. The cast of the Broadway smash “Hamilton” is scheduled to perform a number, which is quite surprising since theater performances are usually left to the Tony Awards. The album of the year award nominees are Swift, Lamar, The Weekend, bluesy rockers Alabama Shakes and country singer Chris Stapleton.
So get ready for drama on the red carpet, mind blowing performances, and 83 awards to hand out. Who will win the race? Only the envelope knows.
