Green Gadget – BU Water Is A Sustainable Filtered Water Bottle With Style
A major problem that plagues modern society today is the waste generated by plastic water bottles. An astonishing 50 billion plastic bottles are thrown away annually with only 1 out of 4 being recycled. The BU water bottle is going to try to bring an alternative to single use plastic bottles.
The BU’s sustainable designed water bottle has a 100% natural charcoal bamboo filter that works to remove chemicals and odors out of tap water, making it easy for the body to absorb. The team at BU products use traditional Japanese methods to transform the bamboo into activated charcoal. They do this by cutting the stalk to size and treating it in a specifically designed kiln. the lid of the bottle is also made of bamboo, the fastest growing plant on the planet, in order to limit the use of plastic and all unnecessary features.
The BPA-free bottle tries to minimize the amount of waste generated as much as possible. Every detail of the BU Water has been thoughtfully designed, from the cup-like lip to its elegant shape accommodating 700 ml of filtered water. There are more than 663 million people without access to clean water, the BU team has made it their mission to help change this global crisis.
BU started in 2013 as a small shop selling a few, well-designed products and now it has developed into a young partnership based in London. Their main aim is to design beautiful sustainable bamboo products with a focus on a healthier planet. The BU Water Bottle is currently on Kickstarter and pledges start around US $26 for one, and US $59 for a couple’s special. Another incentive to back this wonderful product is that every BU Water Bottle you buy provides access to clean water to someone in need through a partnership with charity: water.
