Koenigsegg One: 1 – Get Ready to Feel the Speed

Behold as what just might be the Holy Grail of automotive engineering introduces itself to the world. The people at Koenigsegg have created a monster. Koenigsegg One1 4

And we mean that more literally than figuratively. The Koenigsegg One:1 is the first 273 mph production mega-car and it would definitely not be an overstatement if we called it the most powerful car in its weight class. The power to weight ratio of the Koenigsegg One:1, explains the origin of its name. This first series-produced mega-car of the world occupies a level above a hyper-car. Talk about impressive!

The car is equipped with a turbocharged V8 engine that can stir up around a megawatt of power which means about 1,341 horsepower, a wattage that matches up close enough to the machine’s weight 1,360 kilograms. Many argue that all these specifications make the one-to-one power to weight ratio a little below the mark. But as long as the car has a recorded top speed of 273 mph and only needs 20 seconds to go from 0-249, then who really cares about the minor quirks.

If all the calculations made for the One:1 stay valid, which we really hope they do, we just might be looking at the world’s fastest production car ever. We might be over-doing the term “production car” here though; owing to the fact that only six of these beasts will ever be made. Oh and let’s not get our hopes up. You’ll probably have to strike a gold mine or maybe have sold your company to Facebook to be able to afford one. Rumor has it that the One:1 will be worth about 30% more than the $1.5 million Koenigsegg Agera R.

The cost adds up to about $2 million but that has not hindered the enthusiastic buyers out there, however. Deals for each of the six planned One:1 mega-cars have been made and signed already. Maybe that’s for the better anyway. Because imagine pulling a 2G turn in one of these mega-cars. You would probably end up spinning haphazardly across three dimensional space.
