Otterbox is known for its rugged phone cases that are amazing at doing their job. However, the company has decided to step into the rugged cooler business with its new invention; Venture. Venture is a rugged cooler designed by Otterbox for outdoor adventurers.
As is with any cooler, the core responsibility is to keep the stored items cool and Venture delivers on this responsibility exceptionally well. As per Otterbox, Venture is capable of keeping ice for up to 2 weeks and this figure places it among the likes of Yeti.
Otterbox has tested Venture for drops. The company says that the cooler was dropped on every side, both full and empty, and the design has received the blessing from the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee as bear resistant when it is used in conjunction with Otterbox Locking Kit that is available separately.
Otterbox has featured a modular design for Venture and has integrated a number of extra capabilities into it. The cooler’s edges serve as a mounting system for a variety of accessories that range from a cutting board to an aircraft-styled table and cup holders. The interior can be divided up using the proprietary dividers that will come in handy if you’re storing stuff that you do not want to get mixed.
Apart from these add-ons, it also has the basics right; the lid opens and shuts via chunky latches that can be operated using one hand only and once opened, stay out of the way. Anti-slip rubber feet ensure that cooler doesn’t run away while the handles also double up as tie-down anchors for securing the cooler. The floor of the interior has been slanted in order to make it easier for user to drain the cooler.
It will be available in three different sizes; Venture 25, Venture 45 and Venture 65. Each costing $249.99, $349.99 and $399.99 respectively while offering a capacity of 25 quarts, 45 quarts and 65 quarts respectively. All models shall be available in three different colors.
