The problem of the lack of places to park your car in the parking lot of an apartment building is solved in the new residential skyscraper, Hamilton Scotts, in Singapore. There is room for two cars in each apartment.
The Hamilton Scotts, a 30 story, 56 unit building features a glass elevator shaft that lifts cars into condo units and parks them, behind a glass wall, next to the living room. Even though the high rise offers tens of thousands of square meters of living space, there just wasn’t enough to build a multi-level parking for residents. The team of architects and engineers then came up with this solution. “It’s done in such a way that it’s a museum showcase, it’s just not a car park,” CEO of real estate development firm, KOP Properties said.
Besides the sky garages, the building has the standard features of high-end apartments: a gym, meeting rooms, jacuzzis, and an outdoor pool. Units run from around $9.4 million to about $23.5 million. If you’re looking to rent a condo, it will cost you $11,000 per month. Singapore isn’t the only place where unexpected new features are making their way into apartment buildings, real estate developers in Peru and India are planning to build condos with swimming pools on their balconies.
The system to get your car into the parking area is quite simple, when a resident enters the building, they drive their cars straight into a glass elevator shaft. The elevator raises the vehicle up to the condo and parks it withing a glass enclosure that is visible from the living room. This unique design allows expensive car owner to showcase their prized possessions, instead of hiding them away in basement garages. Hamilton Scotts is the world’s first building to offer such an advanced parking solution.
