Most office environments aren’t very colourful and are usually boring to look at. One office worker decided to change his own office by creating colourful murals of superheroes with post-it-notes.
Ben Brucker’s solution was to cover the office’s walls with a series of superhero portraits made from a total of 8,024 post-it notes. It took him many weeks to plan and design the characters. His boss liked the idea so he decided to give him a $300 budget for the materials and even helped him put up the post-its. His reason for doing this; “One day I just got so tired of how sterile and boring our office felt, I thought I should do something about it.”
A carefully chosen palette of colors make up each larger-than-life composition, with an upside down spiderman, superman and batman towering over workstations and corridors. The grids span the entire office facility with an interesting sequence in a mosaic style that reveals the full image when glanced at from a distance.
Along with his fellow co-workers, Brucker created murals that were colourful, playful, and inspiring. “What’s more inspiring than superheroes? The office team agreed and got to work, starting with a gorgeous post-it note mural of Wonder Woman. One obviously wasn’t enough, so Superman, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, IronMan, Spiderman, and Batman soon followed. Co-workers were so keen about the project that they came in on weekends to get the murals completed.
