Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is known to affect 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls in United States alone. But as it is prevalent, so are the remarkable talents associated with it.
Many autistic individuals have exhibited super human skills – not the X-Men kind – but super nonetheless. News has emerged of human calculators, photographic memories and exceptional drawing skills from among autistic people. Autistic individuals may be inept at social situations, but for many of them, nature has compensated with any quality that normalcy envies.
One such boy, an 11 year old autistic kid who is a son to a college professor, took the internet by rage when while accompanying his mom to a class, went up to a class board and reproduced the world map with extreme accuracy, and that too just from memory.
The shape of all continents was to the mark, and so were their names. The boy even drew islands of the Arctic circle, and his map represented political divisions of countries along with many of their names.
Here’s a picture of the complete map he drew on the class white board.
He may be autistic but he has a super power right here!
